Hi everyone

2 days ago I was in windows playing a video game....Fan started to ramp up a bit so I decided to restart and turn it off for a bit.

So the next day I Restart to go into windows and I get the hard drives for choice but soon as I pick windows, I get a dash blimp in the upper left corner and black screen, and it freezes.

I have restarted and hit f8 to get into safe mode...I runs a rdisk scan and then freezes again...

I can I get to windows to fix this??

Frustrated cause now both of my comp have gone down within a day of each other

Thank you

When it ramps up fans, there is heat and best bet is to keep the fans ramped up with InputRemapper @ 2000+ rpm until it does cool off and then shutdown. Otherwise the heat sits inside and climbs up.

Thanks to not leaving any info on Mac or setup can't go very far.

You can and should boot from DVDs and repair both systems.

At worst do system restore from system images and backups.

Sounds like bad sector and best bet for those is WD Lifeguard - run from within Windows if possible or burn ISO to CD.

Sorry I realized I hadnt done that when it was to late

    I have a Imac 10.1  Intel core 2 duo 3.06 Ghz with 4gb ram

I know now I should have let it cool on its own, but the noise was somewhat scary hearing for the first time...So I shut it down.

The mac side works fine, I just cant get into windows at all by any means.  I cant even get into safe mode it just freezes there too

At this point Im still pretty much mac stupid.  is there anyway I can fix this from the mac side?

It is not a Mac Side problem, from the Windows install disc try Startup Repair, if that doesn't work use System Restore, if the install disc doesn't work, ....... you may be re-installing.

There is no good thermal fan contron under Windows.

InputRemapper helps and try to prevent heat build up.

If necessary or if it doesn't seem normal and healthy two things:

Run Apple Hardware Test - in part to show just how fast and loud a test it does on fans!

Reset the SMC - system management control processor chip

Put a block of dry ice under ! <liquid nitrogen would be better, but hard to acquire> <g>
