I can download apps on my new apple ID but can't update apps on my old apple ID..

I created a new apple ID and I could start downloading apps again, but my old apple ID is still there when I go to update my apps and it won't let me update anything but I can download on my new ID

iPad, iOS 5.0.1, Who can I fix this?

You can only actively utilize one Apple ID on a device at a time. Any Apps purchased under a separate Apple ID will not be able to update. If they're Free Apps, remove them and reinstall to the new Apple ID. If they're paid Apps, you will want to continue to use your old Apple ID. In most cases, it is not recommended to try and use two Apple IDs.

Old Apple ID's can still be used to update the apps. You I'll need to use the password that is associated with those apps in order to update them. You may need to log into the old ID on the iPad to use it to update the apps - Settings>Store>Apple ID.

You cannot combine apps into two different ID's either.

This is a great example of why it is always a bad idea to start a new apple I'd. If you can figure out the old password for the old id, you can sign out and in under the old Id and download the updates. In fact, you may not need to sign out, just watch the box that asks for your password and note when it is using the old Id.

Just out of curiosity, why did you change?

Go to apple.com and try to log in to the old apple id, and if you can, fix whatever the problem is/ was with the account.

On the bottom right side of the page there is a section called password support.
