How do I delete music files from my ipod shuffle?

How the **** do I delete music files from my ipod shuffle? The instructions in the User Guide just plain don't work!?

The instructions say:

"To remove a song or other item from iPod shuffle:

In iTunes, select iPod shuffle in the list of devices. Select Music, Audiobooks, or Podcasts under iPod shuffle.

Select a song or other item, and then press the Delete or Backspace key on your keyboard."

Yeah, fat chance. The Delete key does exactly nothing.

Help, anyone?

First off, don't swear.

Maybe you should connect your iPod, click the device in the list, click the Music tab and select the second option below. You may click "Apply" without selecting nothing, and then syncronize. This should erase the music and the playlists.

Hope this works... 😐
