New location for files - how?

Hi all
There is a thing, I have been unable to change in iMovie. How do I change the standard-folder, iMovie imports files to?

Right now, everything is stored within users/film. And my HD is quickly filling up.

I want to:
1: Change the standard import folder to an external HD.
2: Move existing projects and files to an external HD.

Can both things be done?

Thx! This is certainly helpful.

Now, one thing only: Can I appoint an USB-drive as the place the files should be stored when I import? Or do I have to move them manually afterwards?

The link seems to suggest only the latter

on Import, you're prompted about 'Create New Event' ... and here, you can choose any usb-connected, hfs/'Mac' formatted HDD
