I am having problems sending email on both my IPAD and I-Phone. The emails go into an outbox and are significantly delayed. I get an error message indicating that there is a problem with the Apple server connecting to yahoo

First, I would go into the account and make sure that the incoming and outgoing server settings are correct.
If that doesn't work, then I would delete the account and re-add it.

I also sent an email to a Hotmail account that I gave and received a message that it is not a correct email address which it clearly is. All if this is happening only when connected to Apple's software relating to the IPad and I-phone. I do not see how the settings could be wrong in that I have been using my IPad without a problem for about 2 years and the IPhone for 4 months. Also, I do receive emails now without issues.
When I go to the web based Yahoo email I do not experience these problems or with my laptop.
I am having just this probelm - both my iphone and my ipad are the same - i have just set up my iphone as a hotspot so this may be related?? thing is there are no errors and the emails go into SENT items!!! HELP
