Q: iTunes Keeps Asking Me To Authorise My Compuer

I have been using my Windows 7 laptop for quite a while now. For the past 6 months or so (yes this has been going on for that long) whenever I purchase an album off the iTunes store a number of songs (usually around half) ask me to authorise my computer to play/ sync. them. Obviously, my computer is already authorised (the only only), and I am all out of ideas.

I have already tried every little bit of help that Apple has provided me, with no success. And staff I have been emailing are next to usless.

I have noticed when I go to Get Info. that songs I can play has both Purchased By and my Account Name, while the songs I keep being asked to authorise only have my Account Name listed.

Please help! This is an ongoing and ridiculously frustrating problem, costing me both time and money.

Okay, so I have been trying to sync my iPhone for 3 hours.  It kept stopping at around step 3 or 4 and then would say my computer was not authorized (after I had authorized it about 28 different times, even going so far as logging into the iTunes store and removing it as an authorization under "managed devices", and reauthorizing it, to no avail).

I scoured the internet for answers, found a bunch that didn't work, and finally said to heck with it, I'm doing this on my own.  Here is what I found:

In my iTunes on my computer, under the music I have uploaded on my phone, was a folder that only had 1 file in it (on my phone), though on my computer is had about 17 files in it.  It was called "ringtones" but they were not actual ringtones.  I removed this folder from my music line-up (unchecked the box in iTunes so it would not sync the next time I did this), and finally I was successful.  Hope this helps anyone having the same issue.

so when you have itunes open. press control b there should be a little bar with edit, file, go to the one that says store, if you look down the list it will say authorize your computer, it will take you to a browser where you log into your apple account. once you do this just go back to itunes and press the logo of icloud and you can play them

Please read the OP's post carefully before responding with the most obvious answer. The OP had already done the authorization steps, but was still being asked to authorize. So, the issue was not that the OP did not know how to authorize - it was that the authorization was not being recognized.

    Cheers,

I tried all the suggestions. The only thing that worked for me was to delete the song completely then re-download it.

I found that I had to logon to both user accounts on my mac and authorise both user accounts on itunes. then it synced and updated and tranfered as usual.

This worked for me.  I tried everything and kept being told this computer is not authorised and to authorise it.  Then I did the following and all issues were gone... If you have a mac go into finder and go into the applications tab. Right click iTunes and click get info. When the box opens there is a box you can check that says open in 32-bit mode. reopen itunes and it should work.

Good luck.  I hope it works for you.

Its really sad to see Apple care less and less about customers who specifically have these problems because we are the ones that built the company as early alpha consumers knowing they made better computers but on apps and sw maintenance and continuity I am livid between my daughter gift card used to buy my Blonde on Blonde now requiring me to authorize with an APPLID long ago non-existent to Photos not reading in iPhotos and losing all the extra typing with descriptions after finally finding the masters files so don't lose them all to their general causing me to throw away old routers like Airport Express that work perfectly fine if I want to extend a net with 802.1g even though I have a Time Capsule with 802.11AC to my camera that cannot work as firewire is not supported-its a video feed good for security idiots why do I have to toss it just cause you hate firewire..sure old iPods I get they are consumer devices and memory absurd but routing gear, now absurd use of USB-c as power cord will never buy a macbook where power is my interface cord too! INSANE_-at least Tim Cook is paying their taxes that offshore allegedly! Yeesh could have bought from Bill Gates if wanted to fund plutocratic greed-not that computers is altruism but Apple and Jobs alway having been hippies should walk the walk-irony is Dylan was jobs favorite and I can't listen to best album played for year cuz bought a new iMac for 1400 bucks with crappy hard drive and now it suddenly decides to reactivate DRM? I mean DRM free music is what Steve said was only sane idea so we pay 1.29 now for songs (or we did for a while until idiots realized a CD can be copied a zillion times with no DRM).

APPLE SUPPORT you really need a new VP! Fire this one and get one that will authorize all iTunes songs my kids accounts bought as they were paid for by ME and family share worked but their computers broke so now cannot authorize as you don't trace APPLIDs to current user ids and don't give care as you rather charge us again for same music-not me I too will buy CD as why pay same price when can have the jacket and info in it for same price..and Amazon albums difficult to port into library as well-they port your stuff why not port Amazon library into apple-maybe just need to migrate to Amazon music and be done with iTunes- get all my movies now from Amazon! They give little more of crap in customer service--sad to say but my Apple fan days are long gone to cynical anger.

Apple is not here - this is a user to user support forum. The TOU for this forum specifically prohibits "rants", so you are violating the terms you agreed to when you joined this forum. Also, using a period once in awhile would make things a lot easier to read....

If you want to specifically state what your issue is, then we may be able to help you resolve it. If you are only interested in going on a tirade, then tell it to Apple instead: Apple - Feedback

There is nothing we can do to help you if you don't state specifically what your issue is.
