iPhone 4 contacts disappeared randomly

So today in the middle of texting, my contacts just randomly disappeared. I was in a car, nothing was updating or syncing, they just disappeared. I don't do anything with iCloud or MobileMe and my last backup was 2 months ago. What do I do? Please help me. I don't understand what happened. None of the other threads have helped. Please help me out here.
