Can you purchase MLB At Bat 12 Season with an iTunes Gift Card?

I added a $15 iTunes gift card to my account. I had MLB At Bat 12 downloaded. I tried to purchase the Season option for $14.99. I get a message that I have "insuffcient store credit". I click continue, enter my password, and it takes me to the payment type options. I do not associate any credit card to my account. I figure my iTunes money would suffice. Anyone know if there is tax associate with this purchase? or if there is any issues with using iTunes gift card for this?
