app store security questions

On iPod Touch, when I click APP STORE, select a game & click 'INSTALL APP' and a screen comes up that says:


'Security Info Required. Enter apple ID & passwork, then tap Security Info & answer the questions'


So I must enter password again, then answer 4 security questions.


How do I get rid of the security questions??? I didn't used to have to do this, it just started popping up in the last couple weeks.

You can't get rid of it. You need to do as asked. Part of the new iTMS security. Once questions and answes are entered you will not be prompted to do it again.

Ok, thanks for the replies. ..... However, I've answered the questions, click 'Done', it processes, then the screen sits there. If I go back to the app, I have to go thru the whole process again. It's a circle. This is REALLY frustrating! I think I'll turn it off & try it again tomorrow. I did write down my Q & A's though, so I don't forget!

I understand some of this is to ultimately protect us from fraud but why do I have to enter the user nme and paasword twice.


Not just that but today was the first time I had to enter the answers to the questions and I couldn't remember the answers I used. I had to try severla time before I found the right answers. I tried to reset them on the apple site but I still needed to answer the old question to change the answers.


...and you get an email that you made the purchase and are instructed if it wasn't your purchase to iforgot.apple.com


I'm sure Apple wont change anything. They decide whether we like it or not.

Omg I have the exact same problem! Every time I want a new app it's like answer security questions. So I answer the questions I press done and ..... It loads for a while then nothing happens and I have to keep pressing done! What are the questions from anyway? Are they from something specific? Well if any one knows how to help please answer! Thanks! btw if it happened to u isn't it annoying ! I mean it won't stop !

Yes a wonderful new inconvienience for my security.Is it really for my security though or is if for Apples security. If its my security then I say f%^&k off and leave it how it was. Im ok with it. If it is actually for Apples security then it would be nice if they could admit it and then it wouldnt **** me off so much.


You have to use an email adress that you dont already use for your apple ID. So Apple now requires that everyone who uses their service needs two email adresses. I have to remember more questions, more answers more email adresses.


If wonderful usability and astounding experiences is a shinny light at one end of the scale and cluttered convoluted form feilds built by paranoid propellerheads is the dimmly lit dungeon on the other, Apples just taken a giant leap to the dark side IMO.

I get the same thing, but the difference is that I can't enter the questions and their answers. While I'm in the process of choosing of the questions and writing the answers, the page refreshes by itself and I have to start over. And again it refreshes, and so on... I never got the chance to reach the 4th question. Writing the alternate email address seems like an impossible task. So? What am I going to do?

Geeze, and I just stopped purchasing apps because the one I was interested asked me for more information than I was willing to give. Congratulations Apple! Your security measure makes apps looks like phishing scams!


Just so Apple get's this; I'm one of those paranoid people who doesn't finish a transaction when they ask too many questions.


I did not take a $15 shipping rebate on something I bought simply because they asked for my place of work, mother's maiden name and credit card. Why the Heck do they need my credit card to pay me in the form of a mailed paper check?

The request to enter the same password twice is just a symptom of how silly, half-baked and unprofessional this technical solution is. The next-to-no-choice number of options 'inquires' which of the carS you’ve owned was your favourite (you didn’t have more than one! - must be joking; or any car!!! – shame on you); which was your favourite teacher (just don’t tell us that you actually liked school/college and more than one teacher!!); let’s not even touch the concerts question – you cannot remember the 1st one, or the 2nd, or the 57th? - how embarrassing!


What if people DO NOT have answers to those security questions, for goodness sake!


The need for robust customer protection notwithstanding, the ‘security questions’ technique implemented at the app store is poorly designed and forcefully patronising. Do you agree? (You are free to choose from the following answers: ‘Yes’, ‘Sure’)

I have the same issue: Apple, if you do monitor this, why not please let us choose our own three security questions and answers, instead of having to use questions that either do not relate to many of us, are not at all memorable to us, or are already used for eg other secure online uses, so we are not going to feed into the Apple system too and increase our overall risk if someone ever accessed them? I am sure you can see the last point is a reasonable security concern. It would be so easy to make this more user friendly but still secure, and the system already in the past allowed us to use our own questions. This requirement for three set questions was a terrible over-simplified idea: please be helpful, useful and secure and do not do something inconvenient and unnecessary. It will also let me and many others spend more money with Apple (which I am trying to do but can not do until this is resolved) and to use our Macs properly, which I can't till I can pay to upgrade software. Thank you.

I have been a Mac user since 1997, so there is a deal of brand loyalty coursing through my

veins, but having recently purchased an iPhone 4S and been confronted by this inane and

cumbersome "Security Questions" fiasco, I am beginning to suspect that Apple customer

relations targets are being corrupted from within.

I am certain that Steve Jobs (RIP) would never have let this pass unchallenged.

I cannot download any apps, free or paid for, unless I do it on my desktop machine, where

it works flawlessly. On the 4S, the whole system hangs (as other posters have described)

after the "Security Questions" have been entered. If Apple do not resolve this stuff pretty

**** quick, there are going to be a lot of iPhone users taking kit back to the store and

muttering angry words.

I can't even get the user guide in iBooks from the phone ! !

I am very sure Steve would not have approved of this. But to overcome his minions bulssh*t approacht to security, just choose the top 1 question in each case, and give the same random string as answer, ending with either 1,2 or 3.


The point of this whole flawed setup is moot IMHO, because it assumes that apple has the responsibility to assist the user with remembering information, which it should never do, or if it wants to anyway, it should offer a solution to do just that: to remember information.

Now apple is just bugging users outside their jurisdiction.


Now, if a user like me, who uses 1password to keep this stuff safe and handy, is offered this crap, he probably feels like being offered a piece of paper and a pen to write down the stuff kept in a vault already.

It is, indeed, a 'nanny-ish' approach more representative of Bill Gates

than of Steve. I agree.


It seems to have ceased, for the moment, here in Ireland, for which I

am grateful. Who knows, however, what other delights await us.


Apple's on-going feud with Google means that Google Maps are not

bundled with the iPhone OS, despite Google's mapping of the planet

being by far the superior achievement compared to Microsoft Virtual

Earth or Apple Maps. Apple Maps now no longer have any street view

icons, only driving directions ! (iOS6)


Overall, I love the iPhone as a concept and as an everyday tool but

some of this 'security' stuff gets up my nose.
