So I'm totally and utterly confused. Recently I tried updating apps, then tried to cancel them, leading to the app becoming greyed out and stuck. Whenever I tried to resume the apps, they immediately said that they couldn't be downloaded at this time. I tried multiple times, to no avail.

 

So I thought I was in a mess until I tried fixing it via itunes and made a bigger mess. I'm not very itunes-savvy, and also I realized I had not made any backups for several months. Really stupid move on my part...

 

Then I tried managing the apps from the app tab under "My itouch", and I checked the box to sync all apps and synced it, unknowing of what it does. Then I cancelled it because I thought it wasn't doing anything good and just wasting time, so now I only have 7 apps totally synced that appear on the list on the left of the itouch screen out of my total 70-ish apps. Another bad move... am I supposed to keep syncing or is there a way to reset that list or uncheck "sync all apps" without deleting them off my ipod?

 

So hopefully I don't sound too stupid, but I don't know what's going to happen if I continue syncing all apps/transferring all purchases onto my computer. As of now, both take too long so I can't just wait around and not pay attention without foreknowledge of what will happen.

 

Is there any way to fix the underlying problem of the apps that are still stuck? It's been 3 days now and I've looked up and tried everything outside of itunes... resetting, rebooting, etc. Does itunes have a way to "un-grey" apps?

    Connect device.

    Select the Apps tab.

    Untick the "sync apps" option and sync the device.

    Then tick the "sync apps" option and sync the device.

     

    This should rectify the issue and put all the apps back on the device.  No game or app specific settings will be lost.

    Alright, thanks. I'll try that when I get the chance. I heard transfer purchases did something similar that might help the issue, but I'm not sure. I tried it last night and I don't know if it froze or was just taking a long time. And I'm guessing it's advised to make a backup before I sync it?
