Yes, connect them with a Firewire cable then Boot it in Target Disc Mode by holding down T at restart, then it shows on your MacMini Desktop as a Volume.

Alas, one issue remains: I'm unable to authorize the contents via the installer disk in the MacBook's disk drive. Perhaps it's because my computer reads the icon as an external hard disk (see attached), rather than as a DVD installer icon. Any hunches or suggestions?

If you have the disc space, option drag (copy) that volume across to your MacMini Desktop and then see if it runs OK from there. It might have copy protection that prevents it of course ...
I've just tried your latest suggestion; no dice. The Registration window states, "Please make sure installer disk is in your CD drive...." I guess they're pretty adamant about that.
