I have a macbook air. I accidentally shut it on this studded earring and it caused a little screen damage. What should I do?

I got a macbook air for Christmas and it was in great condition. Until I accidentally tried shutting my mac on this studded earring. The monitor haas a little hole with some dead pixels around it. There are lines traveling to the hole. What should I do?

As Steve said, this isn't covered under warranty. But your home owners insurance may cover it and if your deducible is in the $100-$200 range it is worth investigating. When you do, also ask your agent about a 'rider' for your computer (and other electronic devices).

When I queried my agent about insuring my notebook years ago seeing that I had a Treo cell phone she also suggested I add that. Today we cover the notebooks, iPad, and iPhones for a flat $250 a year extra. There is no deductible, full replacement for damage or theft, and the only provision is that they aren't covered if left unattended in a car. I've made two claims: a computer stolen from my locked office and a computer that was destroyed when my car was rear-ended at a stop light. In both cases my agent told me to buy a replacement of equal capability and my rates didn't go up.
