Is it possible to set a song to begin playing when someone visits your website and have it play for the entirety of their visit? Or is the only option to have it play after you've added it from the "media" tab and they have to actually select it to play?

If you do this, though, remember that the entire song must load before your page is fully displayed. This is very, very annoying to many people, so if you want to do something along these lines, it's usually better to keep it very, very brief and compress it as much as possible, unless you have some way to create a flash movie and do it that way. (Just as an FYI, many people really hate involuntary music on websites, so keep that in mind when deciding how to approach this.)

Actually, found an example at 11mystics.

There, you'll find three audio files within .mov's. As soon as the page loads, you can begin to play them even while they continue to download. So, just a change to the page where the movie resides should make it play automatically and immediately or as soon as enough has buffered.

Well…in Freeway, which I normally use, you can specify this for music that requires intervention by the viewer. But at least in that program, an embedded sound file with the "true" setting has to download totally before it begins to autoplay.

iWeb may handle it differently, of course.

As of now, it seems everything requires intervention in iWeb which is kind of understandable. When working with the QuickTime plugin, there are so many parameters, which ones do you include and leave out in the first version? How do you create an interface that wouldn't confuse the novice?

I'm not sure if it's more of an iWeb thing or a QuickTime thing. If you have autoplay set to true, then the QuickTime plugin SHOULD begin to play as soon as it can. For normal files, this is when they're finished downloading. However, if you export from QuickTime Pro and choose to activate "FastStart", then the wait should only be for enough of it to be loaded to start playing and play to the end without stopping.
