On Apple mail, can I get a conformation that email sent was received and opened?

I'm asking the Hosts to move this to a forum where you can get more help. Through Apple's non-intuitive forum labeling, you found the one for iMacs made before 2006 that cannot run Lion and its associated version of Mail.
