Q: Serial number gone

I thought I had downloaded Aperture from the app store about 4 years ago. Have moved twice since, so even if I did have packaging, it is gone! Then had problems with my hard drive -took it to the Apple store in Rochester NY last fall. Since then I have not been able to open Aperture because it asks for the serial number. Should I just buy the new version?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

If you bought Aperture online, you should have received an email with the serial number - search your mail box. If you bought a boxed retail version the serial number is inside that box.
If you cannot find it, contact Apple; see this support article:
