My iPhone says no SIM

My phone was working fine and now it says, "no sim" and I can't make calls. How do I fix this?

My daughter's iphone 4 just did this...I found various posts, like the ones listed above. What ultimately resolved it was resetting the Network settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings)-- but you will need to reenter WiFi passwords-- and then hold down the home button and power button simultaneously until it restarts. This solved it.

Same problem as others with no SIM card error. First time occurred when trying to activate phone. After about 12 hours, phone finally worked. Then several hours later received error again. Rebooted the phone and it worked, and has been working now for over 24 hours without a problem. I called Verizon tech support who put me in touch with an apple senior tech specialist and they recommended to change the SIM card. If that does not work, the apple specialist told me that apple would replace my phone. Verizon is now sending a new SIM card to me to test.

This is all STUPID. I got a new phone cause my lock button wasn't working & ever since I got my new iPhone it keeps saying "No Sim" I've turned it off & on various times. I've even taken out the Sims card. I also went to my phone company to get a BRAND NEW Sims card. It worked just fine the first day but than the next day it went back to No Sim. Its been like this for a couple of months already. In a couple of days im going to the apple store to see what they can do about it. This is seriously STUPID.!
