my iPhone 4 updated to ios5.1 and the home button does not work

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Have you been through ALL of these troubleshooting steps? If you have and you still have problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation
