disable sms notification during phone calls

I do not want my text message notification to sound during phone calls--it is distracting, exceptionally loud in my ear, and very annoying. I have tried all different types of settings, to no avail. Does anyone know how to stop this?

Also, my text message notification sounds when the message comes in, and then sounds again, when I unlock to the phone to retrieve the message. I don't want it to sound twice--once is enough. Please advise how I can remedy these annoying issues.

I don't see anywhere in the guide where it tells you how to disable text notifications while on a phone call...

You cannot. You can only turn the notification off. They are either on or off. You cannot selectively disable them so they do not sound when you are in a phone call.
