What aps are included with my new macbook air?

It appears that Garage Band and Iphoto were preloaded on my new Air. However when I tried to take advantage of the available updates offered, I was informed that I couldn't download the updates because I hadn't purchased those aps.

Am I correct in assuming that the aps, supplied on the machine, are just "trial versions" like so much of the junk "provided" on PC's? Seems like a shabby start for my foray into the Applehouse.

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.3), 13.3, 256. 4

No.

The apps included in SP Forsythe's link are all full featured, updatable apps completely identical to what anyone can buy from the App Store. They are not the crippleware installed on junk PCs.

In the App Store, under "Purchases" does it show "you have xx apps to accept" or something like that?

How did you purchase your Air? If it was used or a Best Buy open box special all bets are off.

In the App Store, click on the "Purchases" tab. Sign in with your Apple ID and password - the same as you used when you initially set up your MacBook Air. Do iPhoto and Garage Band appear? If so, what are the labels on the buttons to the right - "download", "update", "installed", or "install"?

It should look something like this:

Now, if there are updates available, and you click "update" what happens? Does a prompt for your Apple ID and password appear? Then what?

Thanks. That is not the case with any of the Macs I bought last year and I have no explanation.

Call Apple: 1-800-767-2775 during normal business hours and ask them what is going on. Call early in the day and just be patient since you may still be on hold for a long time.

Have your Mac's serial number ready: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1941

If you don't own the apps then it's a recent change to their policy that I am not aware of.

Please let me know what they say. Thanks!
