May 5, 2012 6:58 PM in response to anynameatallby anynameatall,I am going to have a go tomorrow using migration assistant.

May 5, 2012 7:06 PM in response to anynameatallby John Galt,Sure, if you want to transfer everything then Migration Assistant is the right way to do it. It is likely to be successful.
One hint before you start: if you run Migration Assistant from your account on the iMac, it can only migrate your account from the MacBook to a corresponding account on the iMac. This cannot be the same account you are using when you run MA.
The way around this is to create a new, temporary account on the iMac for the sole purpose of running Migration Assistant.
Migration Assistant will alert you to this fact, all you need to do is read what it says.
When the migration is complete, you can delete the temporary account.
