I used Handbrake to convert .avi files to iPad-compatible .mp4 files and transferred them to th MOVIES folders using iTunes. Now I can't find them in my iPad.
It makes me wish I had purchased a Android tablet - something with a real file system.
So... Can someone please tell me how to view my movies in my ipad3?

The Video App is native to iPad so yes you do. If you can't find your Video App, on your home screen swipe the screen to the right to reveal your Search Bar. Type Video in the search Bar and it will locate your App.
just download one of the following apps which will solve your problem of converting videos as this apps plays almost every video files, first 2 apps are paid ones
GOOD player (very good)
AV player
VLC player (free in tunes)
Where did you look on your iPad? Did you look in the Videos App, which is where they should be located.
I don't have a 'video' icon. Only PHOTOS.
