Hard disk noise when downloading from iTunes Store

Hi,

I noticed that my hard disk (Samsung 2 TB) gets the loudest - compared to a Firefox or JDownloader download - when downloading anything from the iTunes Store.

Not a big deal, but it just doesn't sound very healthy...

Maybe badly written code? Tiny buffer size?

Did anyone notice that too?

iTunes-OTHER, Windows 7, x64

Hello Nesquik,

Yes, I did notice it too. A lot of noise when downloading, It sure looks as if there is no buffer or not enough buffer. Going back in history when there was no smartdrive 🙂

I hope they can fix it, very annoying. Not only because of the noise, but I also get the feeling that my harddrive must be degrading. If you only could say that you want to download on a different location (choosing the SSD) and afterwards moving to the Media Folder on a normal harddrive.

Samsung 1Tb disk.

Same issue. I got a silent computer, but every iTunes download is irritating because of HDD noise. Please somebody help us!!! iTunes 11.1.5.5, Windows 7, x64, Toshiba 3Tb disk.

P.S. Maybe it is somehow related to the disk size and its partition (MBR/GPT).

Before upgrading I had a 500Gb (MBR) Samsung disk, and it was working well with iTunes.

I noticed that all of us have pretty big disks (1tb and over). Mine has a GPT partition.
