Aaaw, Barry. I know you mean well, but those of us asking simple, yet baffling (to us) questions, have NO CLUE what you mean when you say mysterious things like "zapping pram" and havent the vaguest idea what an "SMC" is. That's why we wandered around here after many frustrating hours of trying to find a sight that can simply say what to do, we came here. Thanks for your suggestions, though!

Can you suggest a place to go online where people give very simple, detailed explanations of what to do when we are so frustrated with a mouse that won't work. Apple has been no help, maybe you know of such a sight that can explain this in simple terms. Though this may work, my father (olejer) has never seen his PRAM much less know where to find it or what to do with it if he did. In his day, a PRAM was a baby stroller. Come on. Little help here.

The reason I talked my Dad into a MAC was the amazing support system both from Apple and people like you. Apple has failed him, through this very same technospeak, and he hasn't the time or patience to learn about PRAM. He just want to know what to do, and I thought MAC would be perfect for him.

Can you suggest a sight or a way to fix that an 80 year old man who is no dummy, but is fairly well lost about this stuff?

Thanks, Barry. I wish there was a sight that old guys and gals could learn to be geeks in a very simple way. Alas. (HEY WHAT A GOOD IDEA!)

Let me know!

Olejer's daughter

Hello,

There is really no simple way to explain some things. I think it might be very helpful to enter things like "reset PRAM" or reset SMC into the search window at the top of the page. That will point at Apple knowledge base articles and other helpful information. I type very slowly, so I tend to be brief in my suggestions.

By the by, I am 76, but I have been rattling around technology for a long time. I enjoy trying to help people solve problems.

P.S. I took no offense.... I am not particularly sensitive.
