My iPad is a perk for my job. I have to document, pictorially, many sites. I thought this device would allow me to shed my camera, but, it does not take pictures. If I am supposed to have this feature, how can I restore it? I have already attempted and succeeded in a new iPad restore to o avail. Would someone be gracious enough to respond with answers and/or remedies? Thank you in advance.....

The iPad one does not have a camera and never did. There is nothing to restore.
The iPad 1 does not have a camera. You can tell this by looking at the back of the device and noting that there is no hole for the camera lens.
Restoring an iPad 1 will not magically add a camera to the device. A camera is hardware, not software.
I had to replace my LCD assembly on my ipad 1 last month, and there is a camera in it. Apple aparently did not want to support it, intead you had to buy an 'Camera Adapter Kit' for it or buy a ipad 2 and spend $500 to get that option. Also there is no "Tab" button on the virtual keyboard either.
There IS a camera on the ipad 1, I had to replace my LCD assembly and found out. Apple apparently did not want to support it. Instead you had to buy the "Camera Adapter Kit" / buy a 1pad 2. Just look closely at the top of the display in the middle oppsite of the "Home Button".
Yeah, that would be the light sensor. Sorry, your conspiracy theory will have to wait.
