My desktop have suddenly decided NOT to show files, folders and disks. I can se those files via Finder but not directly on the desktop. I have repaired permissions, verified the disk and ofcourse checked my Finder preferenses - but no go. The desktop shows what I want it to show if I switch user. Any ideas will be much appreciated.
PS: I can't right click on the destop to show the usual menu either.

Might be corrupted preferences...
Go to ~/Library/Preferences
For Lion v10.7x: To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
Move these files to the Trash.
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.desktop.plist
Restart your Mac.

I think you're correct, I didn't see the OP had already checked their Finder's Preferences.

I am having the same issue. I running 10.7.5 Mac OS x and cannot find any of the stuff above.
