The older version of apple software update could not be removed

hi I'm trying to reinstall the new version of itunes but towards the end of the install it throws up the error, "THE OLDER VERSION OF APPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE COULD NOT BE REMOVED"


Does anyone know how i can remove this.


When i try to remove it in the control panel it says it cannot be reached.


oh its windows xp i'm using

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" User uploaded file thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.


Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe downloaded from the Apple Website:
