Is Leopard compatible with A1150 Macbook Pro

Hello, Mac users! I currently have a MacBook Pro 15'': model A1150. I bought it off a friend without the install/restore discs and a blinking question mark inside a folder appears when I turn it on. Which OS should I install on my Macbook Pro: Leopard or SnowLeopard?

Start by calling 1800 275 2273 (1 800 APL CARE). Gibe the serial number, they can send you copies of the original install disks for a nminal shipping fee. Even if those disks are Loepard and you want to go to Now Leopard (buy this disk to do that: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A), having the original disk with the AHT (Apple Hardware Test) is a good idea.

I bought the retail DVD to upgrade my parents' macmini and it installed just fine. But I was just upgrading Leopard to Snow Leopard so all other Apple software was already installed.

Opps ... sorry about that phone number.

Call AppleCare.

If your system came with Leopard, I think the shipping costs will be $30 for replacement disks. If you buy a retail Leopard disk, the cost is $200. Either way you should try to get the original disks to have the AppleHardwareTest to be able to diagnose the system if you suspect logicboard or display or memory or other issues.

Snow Leopard is a very stable system. It runs my parents' 2009-vintage macmini with no issues, and my 2011 MBP with no isues. Many choose to stay at Snow Leopard instead of going to Lion because they prefer the stability of SL.
