Q: Windows 7, iTunes 10.6.1.7 - unable to connect to iTunes store

So, I recently (January 2012) purchased a new computer running Windows 7.  I have iTunes 10.6.7.1.  However, I can not connect to the iTunes store.  I have disable my firewall, changed settings in Windows, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, followed all of the suggestions on the support page.  But, I still have not connect.  I seriously need help.

    Close your iTunes,

    Go to command Prompt -

(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".

    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt

In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in

    netsh winsock reset

    Hit "ENTER" key

    Restart your computer.

If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.

Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Thank you so very  much.  I had done this but not "Run as Administrator".  I guess that was the key.  You are the bomb!

I had been searching for an answer for months to this same problem and was about ready to drag my PC and iphone to the apple store.   I was able to successfully backup my iphone after executing the winsock reset command.  THANK YOU!
