You can remove the Facetime Preferences and try again to set up by going to your users preferences folder. To do this:
0) Quit Facetime
1) switch to the Finder
2) hold the <option> key and
3) select the menu item "Go > Go To Folder…" then
4) enter the path "~/Library/Preferences/", then hit return
5) now find the file "com.apple.FaceTime.plist" and move this to the "Trash" but do NOT empty
Now start Facetime and see if you can complete the setup. IF the setup completes you may ampty the trash

Thanks for your help but it still wont verify the email id and keeps showing the same error message.

Have you restarted your computer? Have tried using FaceTime in another User space?
