Those are Spotlight search results. You can't delete them directly. If the files have been deleted, the results will be updated the next time the folder they were in is indexed. You can force that to happen now by adding it to the exclusions in the Spotlight preference pane, and then removing it.
Hello,
You need to provide more information. Why can't you delete files. Are you able to move files to trash? What indications are you getting? The screen shots do not indicate anything.
Barry
I don't understand. What have you tried?
How can I do that ?Just drag the folders of music, pictures, documents in Spotlight Privacy section ?
I can do nothing with them. thay just dont move or copy or delete
"All My Files" is just a smart folder (i.e. a search results folder that has been preset to look at everything in your User/Home folder).
Use the the actual Folders for manipulating your files.
they do not existanywhere except ALL MY FILES folder
If the files are all in your home folder, reindex that. To repeat, don't try to delete anything from the "All My Files" view. That will never work.
Is that because you've deleted them somehwere else? Are you expecting them to be somehwere else?
The easiset thing for you to do right now is simply restart your computer.
Can I do it in terminal command line ?
I've tride that to... no progress
Thank you Linc Davis.. I just solved it by reindexing spotlight in terminal command line.
But you haven't really indicated what the problem is. I'm assuming (?) that you do not expect to see these files anymore, but they keep showing up, is that right?
If so, try re-indexing in the manner suggested by Linc above.
i.e.
> System Preferences > Spotlight | Privacy
Click the '+' button at the button, add the 'All my files' folder to it. Then click on the 'All my files folder' in the same window and click the '-' button.
> System Preferences > Spotlight | Privacy
Click the '+' button at the button, add the 'All my files' folder to it. Then click on the 'All muy files folder' and click the '-' button.
this method didnt help...
I just google the command that will reindex the Spotlight search, and just did it...
it helped. those files no more еxist.
In which case you should post the command you used so that others searching this topic can find it.
Presumably
sudo mdutil -E /
However, messing about with sudo and Terminal should be your last option unless you're familiar with the Terminal.
Cant delete files, cant do anything with them
