lacie 2big dual hard drive mount

Question

Im having an issue with mounting this drive, after turning on the drive I get this message the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer, however the hard drive does mount. Not only that it shows up in disk utility and allows me to erase and repartition, I have done this several times and still get the same error message when switching on the drive. If I press the ignore button on this error message I am able to use the drive as normal, loading files onto it etc etc. Can anyone help me with regards to clearing this error message bearing in mind ive used disk warrior also. Also bearing in mind the drives do not contain information I need to or wish to keep.

It would seem that there&#x27;s one partition not correct &amp; perhaps not even mounting.   4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.   5. Select your Mac OS X volume.   6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase... after completion hopefully you&#x27;ll be able to get a good mounting for all partitions.

While BD gets around to completing his list, may I ask if you allowed the LaCie software to do the initial setup rather than using Disk Utility?

Sorry for late reply had already worked out what BD ment and set the lacie running to zero out data, have reformated to one partition with mac extended Journal and although the drive does mount and function, it only does it after getting that error message and clicking on the ignore button.Anymore idea whats going on here with this lacie drive Error message ¨disk you inserted unable to read¨ as stated I click the ignore button and the drive functions but why do I get this message all the time, even after zeroing the drive via delete and reformating it.

BD,Hard drive has been partitioned to two parts both show in the disk utitilies of mac. Both drive mount but need to click ignore on the error message everytime. Whew, what&#x27;s this RAID Volume about without at least a second RAID Volume???Never saw that before, but assume Disk 2 is the second one, what kind of raid did you set up?

BD Im not sure how I did that, look if you could tell me what to do to start again that would be great. What I looking to do is to make this into a single drive. I dont need raid backup. I got this drive second hand and thats what, was on it.

Go to Disk Utility, select the drive, not the partitions; select erase, it should ask if you want to erase all partitions, do so. The drive should be fresh and clean and mount without error.

This might be pointless but try a PRAM Reset. With the machine hold down the Option + Control + R + P and the power button until the computer startup chimes Twice. Then let it start normally. Do this with the drive plugged into the USB (your normal setup)

I have it set to fast. The strange thing is after starting the computer now I still get error message, I click ignore see the drive in disk utilities and it shows the capacity as 500 gb when in fact I have a 1 tb drive and a 250 gb drive in the lacie.
