Hi,

iChat will Video to any Buddy that shows a Video icon in the Buddy List

This needs your Camera to be Enabled (Video Menu) and the Show Video Status to be Enabled (View Menu).

From there the Buddy needs to be using iChat if you are starting with a Jabber Buddy List (Included Facebook and GoogleTalk)

That is to say it will not Video to the PC app called GoogleTalk, or to a Web Browser Login or to another Jabber Video capable app.

It is about the different Protocols used for Connections.

To be clear "Jabber" Video chats are iChat to iChat.

If you are using a Yahoo name it will only do Text chats.

Video Chats to PC users using AIM can be varied.

I would say that they were easier in the past

However it may pay to read this replacement Users Tip

Hi,

As the iPad and the iPhone do not have Flash, several Flash based Web Browser Video Chat sites would be unavailable to you.

I have not heard that the Google GoogleTalk Web Browser plug-in is available for the same iOS Browsers.

(that would exclude using Google Talk via a Browser)

The iPad cannot not run iChat.

iChat on the Mac can Video chat to PC that use the AIM App (it is supposed to work but people report a mixed picture of success)

The Yahoo for Mac app does do Video can "Chat" with PC users but I don't think there is an iPad version

Same for MSN/Live.

FaceTime on the Mac and the iOS devices only works between other FaceTime Apps and there is not a PC version.

Realistically there is no way to Video between an iPad and a PC.

Hi,

I've been video chatting for months.

Maybe it's time for a wash and a shave 😉

I would also try a PRAM reset.

Shut down the computer.

Restart it holding down Apple/CMD ( or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.

This clears some memory items that can prevent the camera being "Seen" by the iChat App (amongst other things)
