There is no device configuration for outputting music via USB directly from the device. You can stream music wirelessly to an Airport Express connected to a stereo system or powered speakers.

Music can only be played back over USB if and only if

it is plugged into a "Made for iPod/iPhone" device and it

must be designed for that purpose.

As an example, the Microsoft Sync system in my Ford Focus

can playback music from the USB connection under control

of the Sync system and receives the digital stream from

my iPhone.  This does need to be selected in the music app

if Bluetooth is enabled (It seems if Bluetooth is enabled, the iPhone

defaults to Bluetooth streaming of music, YUCK!).  If Bluetooth

isn't enabled, the iPhone automatically selects USB when plugged in.

The USB interface also works on some Alpine systems the same way

    as do some other systems.

If you were thinking of just plugging it into a computer or such,

it is definately a no go.
