Where did the logo come from?

So who was the person that came up with the Apple logo, the one with the apple with a bite out of it? How did they come up with it? Does it 'mean' anything?

I have stuck one of the two precious stickers that came with my iBook onto my guitar and people are asking me this. Would be nice to have an intelligent response. 🙂

Thx.

Hi Q --

Sounds like the Regis McKinna ad agency, at the urging and with the input of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, came up with the Apple logo.

At least that's what Steve Wozniak says on his Web site when asked. See: http://www.woz.org/letters/general/23.html (search for the word "logo" on that page and you'll see, about a fifth of the way down the page, Wozniak's response to an e-mail that posed the same question that you did in your post.)

Hi,

this area is for "Feedback on Apple Discussions" and should not be used for any other posts. A quick search in Google might have given you more interesting answers as well as many funny resources, but here we go with a short version:

Designer: Rob Janoff, 1976
Where does it come from?
Apple Computers Inc. first logo was a quite complicaqted picture of Newton sitting under an Apple tree... and it comes from:
"Jobs had recently worked at an organic apple orchard, and liked the name because "he thought of the apple as the perfect fruit--it has a high nutritional content, it comes in a nice package, it doesn't damage easily--and he wanted Apple to be the perfect company. Besides, they couldn't come up with a better name."
