Hotmail email messages disappear

Does anyone know why my Hotmail email messages (read and saved to a folder) are disappearing from my iPhone?

iPhone 4, iOS 5.1

go to settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Hotmail and make sure your "Mail Days to Sync" Is not set to 3 days which is default. Click on it and set for no limit if you want to see all emails.

I have the same issue but with my gmail account - I followed your guidance but couldn't find the "Mail Days to Sync". Is there something I am missing, perhaps?
