Ok... See if this resolves your issue.

    1. Connect AC adapters MagSafe connector to the computer. The LED on the connector should be green or amber.
    2. Verify power cord, or plug, is firmly attached to AC adapter.
    3. Verify AC power source is supplying AC power.
    4. Check for dirty or stuck pins on the MagSafe connectors, both on the adapter and the computer. Use and cleaning of power adapter with MagSafe
    5. Reset SMC by pressing the (left) Shift-Control- Option keys along with the power button once.

Follow these steps to reset the SMC

It's the weirdest thing. My Macbook Pro seems to be fine, but I believe that I have a defective power adaptor. I shut down my Macbook for about an hour and came back to plug it in, and out of no where the led light came on. So what do you think that means or suggest?!?!

Well I have the same problem here. Im using macbook A1342 late 2009. My laptop wont charge. No LED light at all neither green nor amber. I first thought it was the battery failure. I recently sent my laptop to Apple service and they said the problem is with the logic board. I did not spill any liquid on it. I even can turn the laptop on (before the battery turns 0%)

Me too, there seems to be something wrong with them and apple will replace them, if you "qualify."  Check here to see if it helps.

I bought my Macbook Pro 1 1/2 weeks ago.  My first laptop ever. During that time my cable all of sudden was piping hot "not warm", eventhough I had it plugged in for abt 1 hour.  Apple store decided to give me a new one since the one I had was probably defective and they said it should never be hot.  I then used the new one for a few days and then it stopped charging.  Wouldn't charge at all.  Apple store was going to do a diagnostic assessment of my computer then decided that my new computer was probably a "lemon" and gave me a new one.  I just got my new one yesterday and it's been charging well however now it's stopped charging-light on cable is green.  Now that I"m reading all these problems that all of you are having after only a few months and me within 1 1/2 weeks of having the Macbook, I'm having second thoughts about an Apple product.  I have 2 weeks to decide if I'm going to keep it or not..having my doubts....

I seem to know the solution to that. It once happened to me and the Mac guy at the store plugged it and it worked as if nothing had happened. He explained what the common problem is: when the charger has been too long on unstable surfaces made up of cloth, i.e. a duvet, pillow or carpet, at some point, should it get hot, the charger stops working (it's better than igniting a fire, I guess!!). Solution: unplug it for a couple of minutes or more if necessary to let it cool and rid of electrostatics, then plug it again, this time placed on a hard surface like wood or glass (a cold surface preferably) and voila!! It will work again.

this may sound really stupid but honestly it has worked the last few times, unplug the charger, blow into the charger input (on computer) and the charger head of the charger to blow off any dust, then slightly tap it or knock it on a hard surface (not to hard) usually this works for me.

I've had this problem with the 45W power adapter that came with my macbook air 2012.  I've had this happened to me on a few occasions with the iPhone charger as well.

The charger suddenly stopped charging about two months after warranty was expired.  I didn't want to spend $80 on a charger but couldn't find any solutions over the internet.

Here is something that works for me and you can try.

If you try to charge but it doesn't charge or light up, you can unplug the charger from the outlet (you don't need to unplug it from your computer) and literally sit on the charger for a couple of minutes and then try charging again.

This method has kept me from buying a new charger for over two years since it "broke'! works 100% of the time for me when it refuses to charge.

So, if you think your charger is broken, give this tip a try.  You'll save some $$$

It worked!  My charger would not light up on macbook air, nothing...no green or amber light...I tried blowing on the port and charger to no avail...I have already had the logic board replaced once on this 2011 air book.  I decided to take your advice and sit on the charger white box...worked on my other mac airbook for about 30 minutes, I am 120 pounds by the way...to my absolute AMAZEMENT...when I plugged charger back in, it lit up!!!  Thank you!  Thank you!

This worked. I really thought my charger was broken but i sat on it for about 30 Minutes whist watching TV I think the power box must have just been to cold.

I had a problem about 6 months ago where the charger wouldn't connect or wouldn't acknowledge that it was connected. About 3 weeks later it randomly started working. Just stopped working again tonight, and came across this thread and decided to try sitting on it since it was easiest and cheapest. Completely shocked me, but it worked! Thanks!!
