App to open wmv files?

My iPad cannot open wmv files sent to my email.

On my iMac they are opened by QuickTime player.

Can't find that app in the store.

What do people use?

Thanks

iPad 2, iOS 5

For WMV files, I recommend the following players (these proved to be the best in my tests, WMV playback-wise, for my forthcoming iOS Multimedia bible; feel free to ask for more info if you need to know more on how the tests have been conducted):

ReplayerHD Pro http://itunes.apple.com/app/replayerhd-pro/id497149750?mt=8 (review: http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/review-just-released-multimedia-player-viplay- and-some-other-ones ) - not the best-featured player though

QQPlayerHD http://itunes.apple.com/app/qqplayerhd/id434585208?mt=8 (this is FREE, albeit pretty much featureless. Review: http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/review-brand-new-free-video-player-qqplayerhd )

AVPlayerHD by EPLAYWORKS.Co.Ltd. http://itunes.apple.com/app/avplayerhd/id407976815?mt=8 - prolly the best of the bunch

Unfortunately, the, otherwise, excellent GoodPlayer by Hustmobile ( http://itunes.apple.com/app/goodplayer/id416756729?mt=8 ) has a somewhat less efficient WMV decoder than the above-mentioned titles. Therefore, if you plan to play back high-res WMV files (as opposed to low(er)-res ones), I wouldn't use this player for that.)

There is a very nice roundup of all media players at http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/playing-back-wmv-videos-%E2%80%93-complete-rou ndup , discussing WMV playback. Certainly worth a read!

As a summary, it recommends GoodPlayer and AVPlayerHD the most if and only if you can't convert your footage into H.264 m4v with, say, Handbrake. Note that it recommends against BUZZ player and OPlayer HD, also recommended in this thread. An excerpt from the article:

OPlayer HD by olimsoft: ALL WMV3 (the old WMV1/WMV2 is OK) content is played back with major stuttering, even the lowest-resolution ones. Avoid it (at least for WMV3 playback)!

BUZZ Player HD by BUGUN Software: this, otherwise, excellent and capable player has some of the worst WMV decoder implementations. It even fails at playing back WMV1 and WMV2 content. The only WMV videos it could play back properly were low-resolution WMV3 ones with Advanced profile and WMA Pro audio. All else configurations resulted in major stuttering and/or audio desynchronization issues.
