Why won't purchased songs play completely?

Why won't songs that I purchased on itunes, play completely? They play for about two seconds and skip to the next track. This is the first purchase I have made through itunes. If this is indicative of what I can expect, I won't purchase from them again... Not to mention that trying to find an answer to my question, is very time consuming.
