iOS 5.1.1 Battery issues Fixed?

Just downloaded it and haven't had it long enough yet to tell

For me, going to 5.1.1 made my battery worse. When I had 5.1, I could use my phone (iPhone 4) heavily during the day (voice, text, safari, apps, etc) and finish the day with 50-60% battery. I updated to 5.1.1 yesterday and can watch the drain happen.

For instance, this morning I took my phone off the charger (100%). After an hour off the charger with very light safari usage (over wifi) and a text conversation, my battery had depleted to 92%. It has been off the charger for 2.5hrs and I am currently at 80%. So I'm losing battery at a rate of roughly 10% per hour. I'm planning to restore back to 5.1 when I get home this evening, I'll never survive a workday at this pace. I haven't used voice yet, which I did yesterday. I lost 10% battery during a 10-15 min conversation.

So, mathematically, if the drain continues and I use voice for a 20 min conversation, my battery will be completely dead in an 8 hr day. Makes doing business hard. So, if apple doesn't solve the mysterious ghost drain by the time my upgrade comes around, I'm going Android. I've had enough of this. My iPad works great, but the iPhone hemorrhages battery life ever since iOS 5. 5.1 slowed it down some, but 5.1.1 opened the floodgates again in my case.

Here we go again!

iOS 5.1.1 hasn't been out for 24hrs yet and people are saying it makes their iPhone worse.

Have you tried restoring you iPhone to see if that helps?

It has improved mine, had a full charge yesterday around 3:00 p.m I'm at 59% as of right now, usage of 3 hours and standy 18 hours. But I'm going to let me battery drain out and do a full charge and see if it really has improved.

I haven't gotten to any of the troubleshooting steps yet, but I can report this. I upgraded to 5.1.1 last night, and left it plugged in to my computer until well after 100% battery had been reached before I unplugged it. When I went to use it for the first time this morning, the battery was dead. Has anyone else experienced this?

You guys are hilarious. there is no change to the iPhone battery power. It's your imagination.

Updated my iPhone 4 the second I saw the announcement. I've seen no difference in performance but I see an appreciable deprecation in battery stamina. Prior to the update on a normal day about now from 7a to 15:00 using Safari, Facebook, Txt, the music player and some Youtube activity, I'd be at around 55 to 65 %. The drive home takes care of that charging that back up. Since the 5.1.1 update, It's 14:30 and I'm at 28%. By quiting time, it'll be at 15% or less. It's a shame that people need to be dismisive of others experience with their equipment. Love the products myself but it's apparent that there continues to be issues with power management. I use the Apple TV 2nd gen a lot so the fixes to Airplay are appreciated but it shouldn't sacrifice battery performance, especially if I'm not using it during a normal day.

I agree. It's simply not "just in our heads". Whether its a hardware or software issue doesn't matter. Some of us are having issues with battery performance. I wish that I didn't have an issue, but I do. It won't take long to deplete the battery...all I have to do is use the phone moderately. That'll allow me to try the "drain, then charge" theory. Hopefully that'll solve the problem.

As I've said before, I love my iPhone, but if apple doesn't get on the ball...I'm going Android. I had no issues with battery until iOS 5 came along. 5.1 was like a bandaid, it stopped the bleeding for awhile, but 5.1.1 was like ripping it off while it's still fresh. If its a hardware issue, I can't fix it. If its a software issue, then apple needs a patch. I believe as 5.1.1 gets around more, we'll start seeing batterygate part II.

I find it funny as well. Albeit there are those with legitimate issues it's kind of funny how vocal someone is that just joined the forum today as a member that supposedly had good battery life before 5.1.1. Well, here I am with most services on including some location based services at 73% and a little over 2 hours of usage and yes I'm on 5.1.1. So, it's the same as before the update (Averaging about 6 hours+ usage).

I understand the hesitation to believe a new member so here's a screenshot. FWIW, I have never seen my phone with 13 hours of standby time.
