I have a number of m4a audio clips in my book, each placed inside a Media widget, yet this error message appears. They all appear and play on my iPad as a Preview, but choke when I try to upload them. What is it objecting to?

This error is caused by using iBooks Author's Export functionality and then delivering to the iBookstore. To fix, do the following:
1. Open your book in iBooks Author
2. Choose Publish from the Toolbar
3. Choose a name for your book package
4. iTunes Producer should open automatically once iBooks Author completes the book publishing process.
5. Carefully enter your book's metadata
6. When complete, click on the Delivery tab and click Deliver

All three editions (text/ narrated text, and narrated text with chapter videos) of my Accurate Color book are now finally online, and two of the three include narration clips on each page of the Book and Preview. Here's the trick:
KT, Here's the deal about the audio clips...
After audio tracks are placed in your book, you must "Publish" the book from IBA... that means re-entering all metadata from scratch- you can't simply import the .ibooks file into ITP. If you enter another audio clip at some time, you have to do it all again. This ain't for the impatient or faint of heart! This takes determination.
My real challenge was putting narration clips into the Preview version of the book. This presented a significant challenge, since you have to Publish the Preview version (just as you do the book) to keep from getting flagged (the outside the widgets rejection notice). Unfortunately this produces a sealed ITP file. I managed to trick the system and get the narration Preview loaded as part of the book submission, but it's a significant piece of work. If anyone is interested, I'll give you the details.
If you want to see/hear the media in a free Sample/Preview download, (on your iPad) go iBooks, Store, enter "Herb Paynter" in the search field, tap the Accurate Color Audio Video (gold stripe), Get Sample. It will take 15 minutes to download.

Pages makes the same error when exporting to .epub. You have to unzip the .ibooks file with Terminal, replace the audio file (For some reason, audio files are change to .m4p; replace it with your .m4a file) and then change the reference in the .xhtml file.
This is pretty technical, but this is how it is done.
