Sep 23, 2012 5:11 AM in response to wyattfromlittlecanadaby Jon Stokes,I have a similar problem. The default answer on the web is to open Videos on your iPad, then touch and hold the movie you wish to delete, then tap the little cross that appears. Alternatively, you can connect to iTunes, select your device in the list, scroll down to the Rentals summary and delete from there.
I have a problem with both of these solutions! The Video App on my iPad does not contain any video icons, just an option to browse my shared library, so I can't delete it from there... ANd in iTunes, the movie in the Rntals tab on my device summary is greyed out, so I can't do anything from there either. But the movie is taking up 2.5 Gb....
Can someone please offer an alternative to resetting the device entirely?!

Dec 17, 2013 2:00 PM in response to wyattfromlittlecanadaby rdumancas,I have the same problem. Call tech support, they said: new OS 7.0.4 has no edit button if the video has a small cloud on it. No way to delete from ipad. Same thing with music, anything with a small cloud. I didnt want to clutter the screen with old rental movies. Bummers!!!
Hope they bring back the edit button

Jan 7, 2014 6:36 PM in response to wyattfromlittlecanadaby ranger89,I was able to remove the expired movie by repeatedly pressing on the play button and the icloud symbol to download or play the expired movie. Itunes asked a few times for my username/password and after a few attempts at persistent pressing of the try to play or download the expired movie and being challenged a few times for my iTunes credentials, the movie cleared from my iCloud movies and the Rentals option disappeared from my iPad. Hopefully some of this persistent approach forces the cache on your device to sync up with iTunes and clears the expired movie for you. Good luck!
