wifi problems on iPad 2 after upgrading to iOS 5.1.1

I upgraded my iPad to iOS 5.1.1 last night. Ever since then, it keeps losing the wifi connection. My laptop, ipod and iphone are not losing any connectivity with the wifi, nor has this been a problem with the iPad prior to upgrading the iOS.

Has anyone else had this problem

iPad 2, iOS 5.1

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

I appreciate your suggestions. I had already tried most of the ones related directly to the iPad and have since given the others a shot, without success. I have not yet tried any of the ideas around resetting or changing the wifi router.

The most intersting point in all of this is that I did not have any wifi problems with this networkuntil updating the iPad to iOS 5.1.1, and they started almost immediately after the upgrade. Also, I do not have any problems with my iPhone or my laptop. Both the laptop and the iPhone maintain the wifi connection without interruption.

When I get time and start trying some of the router ideas, I hope the issue will be resolved. However, I believe there is something in iOS 5.1.1 that has started all of this, since I did not have any problems on this wifi network before and no other devices in our buiding, including other iPad 2s (not yet on iOS 5.1.1) are having any issues.

I am curious as to whether or not anyone else has had this problem with the new iOS. Next time I will not be so quick to upgrade.

I get this all the time on the ipad 2 and iphone 4, as does my partner on her iphone 4

Whilst the suggestions are helpful, it is completely unacceptable that consumers should have to go to forums and then carry out technical fixes by changing router settings etc. Most people don't have the skills to do this and we shouldn't have to bother. If I bought a new car I would not expect to have to configure all the settings to get it to work properly!!

I'm deeply disappointed with all the Apple products I have bought, not just because of the problems listed here, although these are the most frustrating. As a result I shall be moving my entire business (ipads and iphones) to non-Apple products over the coming months, as network contracts expire.

Here is the latest. I did not take the time to change all the router information. I do have another wifi network in my building, which I joined. I am not losing the connection as often since switching networks.

However, I still do not understand why I started having problems when I put iOS 5.1.1 on my iPad 2 (3G). I did not have problems with the first wifi network before upgrading, and none of the other devices in the building have had any problems with the first network. I have recommended to other users on the network not to upgrade to iOS 5.1.1.

There appears to be something in 5.1.1 that makes it easier to loose a wifi connection in some devices. I hope Apple will address this issue in the near future.

I have had similiar problems since the upgrade however only on some networks. I can connect fine on home network but not to my parents network, when before the grade, I had no problem. Other devices, laptop, iphone connect fine. Reading through all the info on forums etc it appears to be older routers that cause the problem and unfortunately if there is no update for the router then you're stuck.

I am having the same problem with an older router but am able to maintain the wifi connection on a 801n router so the older router diagnosis seems to be spot on. We need a fix for this.

Furthermore, I am having problems with the app store since the upgrade and read on a UK user group the same issue is cropping up with other users. Seems the ios 5.1.1 was also supposed to fix a problem with "unable to purchase" messages but the fix seems to have gone wrong as now I am not able to update apps or download new ones. We need a fix for this.
