is it possible to increase the ram in imac 24inch 3.06 early 2008 to greater than 4g to 8g

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), 4g ram to 8g ram

Maximum Memory	6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
Memory Slots	2 - 200-pin PC2-6400 (800MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM

You cannot go up to 8 GBs as 6 GBs is the true maximum.

EDIT:

I would suggest looking for RAM at OWC or DataMem. They are both reliable vendors or RAM for Macs.

You will know how much and what kind you can use.

If you change out the HD for a SSD you will see a huge improvement in the speed of your machine.
