Malware removal for OS10.5.8

I am using Mac 10.5.8 and am sure I have the malware. I cannot find Java in my applications. Can I run the Flashback malware removal tool?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Sorry, but there is no such tool for Leopard. You can try using ClamXav 2.2.5. Also, see:

A Google search can reveal a variety of alternatives on how the remove the trojan should your computer get infected. This can get you started.

For now I recommend the User Tip from etressoft to detect and remove:

No fix is available from Apple for your obsolete version of the Mac OS. You may be able to clear the infection, if you have it, by running the removal tool developed by a third party:

Flashback Removal Tool - F-Secure

Back up all data before you take this step. If it shows you were infected, change every Internet password you have, starting with banking passwords, and check all financial accounts for unauthorized transactions.

Disable Java (not JavaScript) in the settings of all your web browsers, and leave it disabled as long as you're running Mac OS 10.5.x. To disable Java in Safari, select Safari â–¹ Preferences â–¹ Security and uncheck the box labeled Enable Java.

You didn't specify whether you are using a PPC or Intel iMac.

If PPC then the evidence I have says you are immune to all variants of Flashback.

If you have an Intel iMac, then the best thing you can do is to upgrade immediately to OS X 10.6.8, if possible. If you have a MobileMe account, you can obtain a free copy of Snow Leopard by going to https://www.me.com/snow-leopard and log in.

I'll just confirm that neither showed up on my iMac G5 when I checked earlier today. I was not expecting the Flashback remover to be there, but I was a bit surprised that the Flash Player one was not. Evidently PPC Macs have been completely abandoned, but not Leopard Intel, at least for now.
