Safari 5.1.5 not loading Pandora

Trying to open Pandora.com using Safari, the site comes up and runs and runs, but never brings up the signin page instead it comes up with a help page. I tried the suggestion on the help page, but this does no good, mostly settings, and making sure the browsers are at the latest versions.

If I go through Develope and select User Agent > Internet Explorer v7 or v8 in Safari, Pandora loads and runs correctly.

But there is more, I tried this with FireFox v12 and Google Chrome v18.0.1025... they both failed just like Safari.

MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo - 8GB memory - 500GB Hard Drive & Mac OS X 10.7.3 on a MacBook Pro and Safari v5.1.5

Anyone have an idea why this is happening?

Hi John ...

No problem here with Safari 5.1.5 / Lion v10.7.3 logging into Pandora. Or with Firefox, or Chrome.

Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly. You are clicking Sign In top right corner of the Pandora window correct?

If you have anti virus software installed, disable that.

Try turning off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall

If you have Little Snitch installed, that can cause the problems you are experiencing.

Interesting that it's all your browsers that won't connect, not just Safari.

John..

Try a different DNS.. I use OpenDNS myself without any problems. It's free.

Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.

Click +

Enter these addresses exactly as you see them here.

208.67.222.222

Click +

208.67.220.220

Then click OK.

Try Pandora on any browser.

Apple suggests using OpenDNS here > Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found

It is running now, I am running Intego's Virusbarrier v6. I made Pandora.com a trusted website and it is now opening. Good Grief. Thiry years in IT virus and such worry me.... Thanks to everyone who helped out it figures it would be simple fix...On the positive sides all my browsers are up to date, permissions, and maintenance have been run and DNS settings are much better than what I was running...

I figure out that my Intego VirusBarrier v6 needed to have Pandora.com added to the Trusted Website. Also the DNS that Carolyn Samit suggested are better than what I was running. I also upgraded browesers and clean cache and cookies, double checked settings in all three browers, Safari, Firefox and Chrome. Updated Flash Player for Mac.. Hope this help you out...

hi I am running Intego's Virusbarrier v6, which is a combination Firewall, Virus, Spam and Malware software. One of the many features of this software is to mark websites as either trusted or not trusted.

Having spent many years working in the IT arena and Microsoft I felt compelled to protect my laptop, although the odds are low for Mac's old habits are hard to break..

Hope this helps...
