My iPhone 4 doesn't show up under 'Devices'.

What do you mean by "...I can't find the device under 'Devices'. I can see it in iTunes, however."? Does you iPhone appear in iTunes on the left sidebar under Devices or not? What operating system are you using on your computer? OS X version? Windows XP? Vista? 7?

You won't be able to as the iPhone doesn't operate in "disk mode" like and iPod can. To see content on your iPhone you would have to use 3rd party software such as PhoneView.

With Windows it only allow access to photos, as it does with any digital camera. A mac will also see the iPhone as a digital camera, and you can set iPhoto to automatically import photos when you connect your phone as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

In case the article isn't clear, you open iPhoto, go to Preferences, on the General tap under "Connecting camera opens:" select iPhoto.

I can't either and I use to be able to see it under devices, which IS possible on a MAC and you are suppose to be able to use to transfer images. I've found that a lot of people on forums are having this problem. If you've figured it out I would love to know how.

It will only show up if there are photos in the Camera Roll. If you are sure you have photos in the Camera Roll launch Image Capture from your Mac's Applications folder.

Not sure if it works on Macs but on windows based machines try this. Make sure your iphone is plugged in and right click on my computer or computer then click on properties. Find the device manager tab and click on it. Find portable devices and click on it, your iphone should show up on there. Double click apple iphone then click on the driver tab and hit uninstall. Unplug your iphone and plug it back it and let your computer find it and reinstall it's driver. I got mine working after I did this.

This helped me I was on with Apple Support for almost an hour. My 3g had the right driver but when I plugged my 4s in it showed no driver installed so I pointed my 4s to the folder where the 3g driver was it said it didn't install correctly but unplugged and plugged back in now all works well. Plus under portable devices I noticed my 4s just said iphone while the 3g said Apple iPhone after doing that the 4s said the same as the 3g now I can import pictures again. And it also shows up in computer as a device.

I'm having the same issue. I have an XP machine and under devices I see the iPhone 4s but with a yellow ! mark.

I've tried updating the drivers but it fails. iTunes works fine though. Any thoughts? I just want to download the photos and erase those I don't want from the phone.

As has already been said, the iPhone will not show up under Devices. It will show up as a digital camera if there are photos in the camera Roll.

If updating the drivers fails you must resolve that problem. You can't ignore it and expect the iPhone to work with your computer. The best thing to do is to remove and reinstall iTunes as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925. Do not skip any steps, and disable your antivirus before installing.

I have used the same 4s under W7 and it does show up in My Computer as an iPhone and I do have direct access to all the photos not just those in the camera roll. On XP it's not working.

iTunes is working fine, it's just the drivers that I need to update - and can't.

OK, don't take my advice. Reinstalling iTunes will remove and reinstall the drivers. But don't do that, because you know that iTunes is working.
