Q: How do I get my iphone to restore when it won't turn on?

Try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

I tried this and mine will not come on either  the iphone world seems dead after update I should have stuck it out with sansung

Maybe you should have stuck with Samsung after all.

Plug your iPhone in, preferably to the wall, to charge the battery.  Frequently when someone is experiencing this problem the battery is drained enough it won't turn on at all.  It may take a while to turn on, and you should wait until the battery has a decent charge before trying to restore (definitely more than 20% when it will change from red to blue.)  It would be a good idea to leave it plugged in during the restore.  I helped someone with this when it happened to an iPod, and left it plugged in over night to get a full charge.  It restored properly after that.

Samsung smartphones have a higher failure rate than iPhones.
