Exchange Account "Sent" messages missing

Hi All,

On Lion Mail (5.2) I have an Exchange (2010) account and everything is working well other than my "Sent" messages folder. There are many messages in my "Sent Items" folder in webmail (as well as when connected with other mail clients, Outlook, Evolution etc.) that do not show up in my "Sent" folder in Mail.app. Interestingly, when I send a message with Mail.app, it drops it in the "Sent" folder, and these show up just fine in webmail, so the "Sent" --> "Sent Items" mapping appears to be correct. Is there any way that I can get all of my sent messages to show up correctly? Thank you!

It doesn't mean the mapping is correct. If it's sent through the server and you have it set to store sent messages on the server, then the server is coping it to the folder. If it isn't showing in Mail, then it's probably not mapped correctly.

Check the exchange folder in the sidebar. If it isn't expanded, put the cursor over it until show appears. Then click show to expand the folder. If the Sent Items is listed under it, highlight it and choose Use This Mailbox For: Sent under Mailboxes in the menu.

Uncheck to store messages on the server in the Mailbox Behaviors tab in preferences under Accounts tab. If it was mapped, it will put the Sent Items folder back under the exchange account in the sidebar.

Try quitting Mail and restart it. Recheck your setting for storing sent messages on the server to make sure it remained unchecked.

If the setting is unchecked and the sent items folder doesn't reappear under the exchange account in the sidebar, then it's not getting the information from the exchange server. Maybe it's not selected to show in IMAP. There may be settings you can make at the website like gmail has where you can choose to show or hide mailboxes from showing in IMAP to other applications.

same exact issue here. works on the mobile devices just fine, it's just the desktop mail client...

yeah, that's what i figured.

unfortunately the "sent items" folder does not appear at all. it's funny because "Deleted" shows just fine as does "Inbox". any ideas on how to re-map?

that didn't do the trick unfortunatey. would rebuilding the mailbox be an option? pehaps some sort of hang up in the process of adding the account?
