Q: 5th Gen. Unlock icon won't unlock

Hi, I have just got hold of an iPod Nano 5th Gen but the screen is frozen in Menu Mode. I can Restore & Sync, but the unlock icon is stuck on lock, so therefore I cannot use Menu & Select as the wheel is unresponsive. I have tried Restore, no difference Lock still locked, I have even tried deleting all the files including hidden ones on the ipod, then doing a restore still no joy. It does work using the UBS socket in my car so it seems the only problem is the Lock Icon. I understand that the iPod 5th G has a lock facility accessed by a combination, but I also understand that Restoring will reset this. Anybody any ideas?

Where ever or whom ever you gotten the iPod Nano from, ask them for the lock combination. Simple as that!

Or take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.

Wish it was as simple as that! I had thought of the lock combination but previous owner does not know it, anyway, restoring it is supposed to reset it to factory presets so I would not need the combination. I have taken note of your second suggestion and had already booked an appointment with the Genius Bar, but would have liked to fix it myself,
