iPhone 4 sim-free(approved in all EU countries) was not sim-free

I bought a new Iphone 4 by middleman, at home when inserting the card, itunes said "installed in the Internet phone sim card apparently does not support" and how to understand that? what to do with it? I can`t activate it.

I do not think that means unlocked at all. Many 3rd party sellers in Europe seem to offer SIM-free phones, but they lock to the carrier that you activate them with. In other words, they are indeed SIM-free in that they are sold without a particular carrier's SIM, but the minute you put a specific carrier's SIM in them and activate service, they lock to that carrier.

SIM-free has never meant permanently carrier unlocked, to my knowledge.

eg. the Carphone Warehouse web store in the UK sells SIM-free iPhones, but their fine print states:

"iPhone will lock itself to the network of the first SIM card that is used in the phone. Subsequently attempting to use it on any other network, for example by replacing the SIM card, may mean it becomes permanently unusable. SIM free iPhones can only be used with a UK-network SIM card, and will not accept foreign SIM cards."

It sounds like this is the sort of deal you purchased.
